A Ming dynasty official prayed to the goddess Ti Kuan to cure his illness. She appeared to him in dream, demanding he make Anxi district in Fujian, China prosperous in return for her healing powers. The official agreed. After his miracle, he deemed the tea leaves from Anxi the emperors favorite. The Emperor demanded oolong tea from the region as tax payment, making the tea famous.
Ti Kuan Yin, is exclusively produced in the Anxi County in Fujian, China. Locally, this tea is known as the Red Heart Goddess tea. Ti Kuan Yin leaf processing yields a deep complex flavor profile which includes earthy, floral and sweet notes. Production involves 18 steps which can take up to 40 hours to complete. These teas are hand manufactured and carefully blended.
